Frequently asked questions

I didn't get a code – how do I get in? Check the public lobby list under "Join lobby". If there's nothing suitable there, ask the person organizing the round for the code or link. Or just open a lobby yourself.

Do I need to install anything? No. Shadow Saloon runs entirely in the browser.

What language is Shadow Saloon in? The interface is available in German, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Swedish and Low German. You can switch at the very bottom of every page in the footer (🌐) – even without an account. If you're signed in, your account remembers the choice.

Can I change the look (light, dark, seasonal)? Yes. There's a toggle button between ShadowSaloon (dark) and Light Saloon (light) at the top in the header bar; when the saloon offers other themes (Carnival Night, Cotton Candy, Desert Sky, High Contrast or a seasonal one), it becomes a small picker menu with the seasonal themes in their own group. Your browser remembers the choice; with an account the saloon keeps it across devices too, and on your profile you can set it under Theme or reset it to the browser pick. If the operator switches a theme off, you automatically see the default theme – your pick applies again as soon as it returns. Seasonal themes come with decoration (snowflakes, a spider and bats); the button next to the theme control in the header turns the motion off if it bothers you. If your system has "reduce motion" enabled, it stays still from the start.

Can I play on my phone? Yes. Phone, tablet and computer all work.

Can I play alone, too? For some games, yes: Hangman, the Music Quiz, the Trivia Quiz, Memory, Mahjong, Rattler, Haunted Mine, Freight, Sudoku and Bonanza can also be started solo from the start page – no lobby, no fellow players. Whether the solo start is offered is up to the operator of the site. You find them on the start page under the Solo games tab (“At the bar”; its own address: /en/Solo); the page of each of these games has the line “Rather play alone? Play solo” below the two cards as well. After a solo game you are back at the bar.

I got dropped by accident – is the game over now? Not right away. You have about a minute to reopen the page and keep playing.

Why can't I report anything? The report function is only for signed-in players. As a guest it's not available – create an account if you need it.

Can I be in two lobbies at the same time? No, only ever one. If you join a new one, you'll be asked whether you want to leave the old one.

How do I get rid of my data? In your profile you can delete your account. That removes your data. Beforehand you can still download it as a file if you like.
