Durak: game rules
Durak
π Goal: Be the first to get rid of all your cards.
β Attack: The first attack is led by whoever holds the lowest trump; the next player is attacked. The defender beats each card with a higher one of the same suit or with a trump — or picks the cards up. Then everyone draws back up to 6 cards: first the attacker, then the others in turn, the defender last.
π Trump: One suit is the trump and beats all others.
π₯ Pick up: Whoever can't defend has to pick up the cards and sits out the next attack — the player after them attacks. Whoever fends the attack off attacks next.
π€‘ Loser: Whoever is the only one left holding cards is the "Durak" (the fool). If the last players get rid of their cards at the same time, the game ends in a draw.
βͺ Passing on: If passing on is switched on, the defender may add a card of the same rank instead of beating — the attack moves on to the next player.
β Who throws in: Depending on the setting, cards may be added by the attacker only, by the defender's neighbours or by everyone. Only ranks already on the table may be added — 6 attacks at most and never more than the defender had cards.
π Deck: Depending on the setting the game is played with 24, 36 or 52 cards; everyone holds 6. From four players the first attack of a game can be limited to 5 cards.
β Trump swap: If the swap is switched on, the holder of the lowest trump may swap it for the face-up trump card under the deck as long as the deck holds more cards.
π Series: The "Length" setting plays 1, 3 or 5 games, or until somebody has been the Durak twice or three times; a new game is dealt after each one. With "The last Durak is attacked first" the player before the last Durak opens the next game, otherwise the lowest trump does.
