During the game

A few things that are useful in the game:

  • Look up the rules. On every game page there is a question mark ("?") at the top next to the game's name. Clicking it shows the rules of the current game – handy when you're briefly unsure.
  • Back to the lobby. At the top of the screen, a small field shows which lobby you're currently in. Clicking it takes you back there.
  • Away briefly? No problem. If you accidentally close the tab or lose your connection, you have about a minute to come back without being dropped from the game. After that – or if you leave a running game – you are out; with the code or link you get back into the lobby once that game is over. A solo Sudoku waits for you, paused, for half an hour; a Sudoku race for five minutes. As long as your tab is connected, nothing throws you out of a running game by itself.
  • Sound and music. The game has sounds and effects. When the game music is switched on in the saloon, every game except the music quiz plays a piece composed for it (it may play on a stream too); the speaker at the top of the screen then opens two sliders, "Sound effects" (50 % at first) and "Music" (10 % at first; all the way left is off), otherwise only "Sound effects". Clicking it mutes everything. Muted or at 0, your browser loads no music. The music quiz has its own slider at the table. If your browser holds the music back, it starts with your first tap on the page.
  • Who did what? In games played in turns, the line that says whose turn it is also names the last move: the player's portrait and what they did, for example "last Cem: S — hit". At the card tables the new card flies from the player's seat onto the table and keeps a ring until the next move; in Hangman's gallows style and in Durak a small portrait on the key or card shows who named or laid it. If the turn time decided for someone, "(automatic)" stands next to it. In the gallows style you hear for every letter whether it hit, and in every game a short chime sounds as soon as it is your turn – also when several may act at once, such as throwing in at Durak.
  • Phone in portrait and tablet. To give the game as much room as possible, the page header (sound, colour scheme, profile) sits behind ☰ at the top right during a game. In the lobby it sits there too, and ☰ also brings back the footer with guide, imprint, privacy and language (on a tablet as well). On a tablet there is also a Fullscreen button to the left of ⚙: it hides the browser's bars as well. Tap it again or leave the game to end fullscreen. Not every browser offers fullscreen; there the button is missing.
  • "For you" in ⚙. In the game's gear menu, For you holds settings for your device only: the card style in the card games, and the on-screen buttons (d-pad or button bar) in Rattler, Haunted Mine and Freight. On touch devices the buttons start switched on, on a computer off.
  • Card style without a choice of your own. Until you pick a card style, every game shows the deck it is known by: Texas Hold'em J/Q/K, Skat, Doppelkopf and Durak B/D/K. Your choice then holds at every card table.
  • After the game. The end screen names the result at the top, with the ranking and the details of the game below – playing alone, your own value instead of a player list. In the card games you can unfold everyone's starting hands; in Skat you also see what lay in the skat and what was discarded. Rausschmeißer, Boomtown and Seeschlacht show the board as it stood at the end. A finished game of chess can be walked through move by move: with ⏮ ◀ ▶ ⏭ or by clicking a move in the list.

Playing in front of an audience (e.g. while streaming)?

There is a streamer mode: an eye symbol you can use to hide the lobby code. Instead of the code, only dots appear (••••••). That way no one who sees your screen can join your lobby uninvited.

The eye only affects the lobby code and can only be switched there (on a phone in the invite sheet); your device remembers the choice. Personal data in your profile (e-mail, names of linked accounts) is always hidden anyway until you reveal it yourself with the eye next to it.
